Gregg A. Bannett, D.O.

Dr. Gregg Bannett founded Bannett Eye Centers in 1997 after seven years in solo practice.  He attended Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, graduating in 1981 with a BA in Biochemistry, and received his medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan University) in New Brunswick and Stratford, NJ in 1985.

After a rotating internship at NJSOM Stratford, Dr. Bannett completed his ophthalmology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, where he was Chief Resident. He received fellowship training in cataract surgery from Siepser EyeCare in Wayne, PA, where he honed his surgical techniques in small-incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery.

Dr. Bannett is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and maintains licenses in good standing in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dr. Bannett holds academic appointments at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, where he is a clinical instructor in the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service, and Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in southern New Jersey, where he is a clinical assistant professor teaching family practice residents to recognize eye/medical health issues in their primary care practices. He holds staff appointments to Wills Eye Hospital and Jefferson University Hospitals in New Jersey.

He has been a SJ Magazine Top Doc in 2020, 2019 and 2017 (and previous issues), and a Healthy Living Magazine “Approved by NJ Top Docs” in 2019 and 2018. In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Bannett has a special interest in glaucoma, dry eye and other diseases of the eye. A life-long resident of South Jersey, Dr. Bannett loves to sail, study philosophy and spend time with his family, and is a proud father of three grown children and grandfather of two.
